As it was, the fibre was fixed somewhat faster than expected, and the all-clear came through from our provider at 16:24 BST (UTC+1). The exact cause of the cut is being chased, but this information will be largely informational.

As it is, we're not expecting any further disruption to this network path, and thus the outage report is being resolved.

Hello, At around 02:35 local British time (UTC+1) today, a portion of the dark fibre our network relies upon was cut, somewhere between Leeds & Sheffield.

This means that our resilience in York is reduced, albeit from 3 paths down to 2. It also means that traffic between York & London will route via Manchester for the time being, adding approximately 2ms.

Work is ongoing to fix the fibre already, so it is now just a case of waiting for service restoration. There is no ETA at present, but it should be within the confines of today.

I'll post again when I have any further information to share, or to resolve the outage.

Tom
