Our network team discovered that this was caused by a denial-of-service attack, we've taken action to get this under control and service should now be returning to normal for servers behind the firewall

We've failed over to the secondary firewall and this appears to have resolved some hosts' problems but not all of them.

We believe that there is a problem with a shared firewall in our York datacentre. Machines hosted behind this firewall were responsive for a short while.

We've taken a corrective action and will continue to monitor the situation.
