We received an all-clear message at around 06:45, to say that all work was completed by 04:00. There were no further interruptions to our fibre services after they were restored, ca. 23:15 (BST/UTC+1).

Thanks to all for your patience.

An update: as of around 65 minutes ago, our own fibre pair appears to have been re-connected, and the waves upon it have returned to service.

This means that the connectivity for Manchester services is once again resilient, but as we haven't yet had an all-clear from the suppliers, it can be assumed that there is still re-splicing work ongoing, and thus we shall leave this status post as 'confirmed' until morning.

Apologies for the late notice of this work.

One of our fibre providers is conducting planned maintenance on one half of the resilient fibre paths that connect our Reynolds House (Equinix MA2) data centre in Manchester, to the rest of our network.

This work is not impacting services in Manchester, but it does remove our resiliency there.

Our supplier's maintenance is required in order to rebuild a collapsed fibre duct & joint, which poses a risk to future service integrity. As they have now cut the offending portion, and are in the process of rebuilding it, the biggest risk (cutting the wrong fibre) is already mitigated.

This work is time consuming and will continue throughout the night, until morning. As per usual, our support-urgent facilities are manned in the slim case that there are any outages this evening, so please do use those contacts if you suspect your services in Manchester are unreachable.

Once again, my apologies for the short notice.

Tom
