The tail seemed to have suffered from a type of CPU locking and has come back cleanly after a reboot.
That said, if you think you are having any issues with archive grade discs on that pool, please get in touch via support@bytemark.co.uk

At 11:14 this morning were were alerted to the BigV Archive tail bigv1-tail4 not responding to it's heartbeat check.
This tail hosts archive discs from pool "tail04-archive1 (archive)" Backup from this pool will be currently unavailable.
We're investigating now.
