FOR INFORMATION ONLY

Planned Maintenance: DC11 York – Black Building Test

As part of our commitment to quality and standards we will be carrying out an Annual Black Building test in DC11 York. This test is a best practice procedure and is carried out to test the whole buildings resilient functions from the LV panel switching correctly, UPS batteries carrying the site load and initiating the Generator to take site load without any interruption to service.

What will happen?

The test will be carried out in stages:

1 : Pre-test – All systems will be checked and serviced to make sure all systems are running correctly.

2 : Power Supply to the site will be interrupted using a key switch and the site infrastructure will go through its process to transfer load onto generator. All systems will be checked and monitored.

3 : Black building test will run for 2 hour and be fully monitored throughout.

4 : Power Supply will be re-instated and site infrastructure will revert back onto mains power and all systems will revert back to normal state, whole site check will be carried out to identify any issues.

Monitoring will continue to ensure there are no issues though out the whole process.

When will the work be carried out?

The Black Building test will be on 15th March 2022. Start time of 10:00am for the power supply interruption with the re-instatement of power at 12:00pm.

Who will be completing the work?

The Black Building test will be initiated by the Data Centre Services Manager with the support of specialist contractors monitoring the LV Panel, UPS, AC & Generator Systems. All personnel will remain on-site during the test and carry out continuous monitoring throughout the test.

Will I experience downtime?

As with any type of maintenance, there is a risk of downtime. However the Black Building Test is expected to be a non-service affecting Test. If at any point the risk to the site is increased then the Test will be aborted and Mains Power will be re-instated.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this maintenance, please get in touch or contact your Account Manager.
