We are seeing much better performance from the pool now so resolving this.

We've been able to confirm that when VM's are not accessing the pool, then performance is fine. The messages from the RAID card appear to be unrelated.
It's looking like this is just down to usage - multiple VM's trying to heavily read/write at the same time and the spinning discs archive storage uses can't keep up.

I'm seeing some errors coming from the RAID card - i've attempted a power cycle and that has not helped.
I'm currently on the phone to one of our data centre engineers in Manchester and we're discussing the best course of action.

We're seeing slow archive disc performance on BigV tail4 - we're looking into it.
